Breaking the Cycle - Jerry's Corner...A View from the Plus Size

May 11, 2010

I was wondering last night about bad habits and how one breaks bad habits ….hopefully my wife doesn’t read this and get the idea of breaking one bad habit…no honey, divorce is not a cure for a bad habit..ha ha….but on a serious note I’ve wondered because I‘ve lived my life whole wondering how to break a bad habit…hell I would score a big weight loss goal and then I would reward myself with some junk food… and I still have the same mind set at times telling myself that I’d earned a reward, but in reality all I was doing was pushing my success back…kinda like a hamster on a wheel going in a circle and never really getting anywhere.  We all know the rewards from diet and exercise are two fold you look better and feel better….its a win win situation.  Lets be honest, most people Crossfit all week and eat clean, but then mr weekend shows up and  we reward ourselves for making it thru the week.  Habits are hard to break good ,bad and the Kenny..I meant ugly….we're so conditioned in life to stick to something that works for us that we never really see the end result until its to late.  What makes someone break a bad habit?….I mean I’ve witnessed people smoke for 20 plus years and just quit or watch the show intervention and see someone finally say enough and totally transform there life….I even watched this guy who lost  150 biscuits in less then a year just finally tell himself enough….and I asked myself what was the wake up call for these people …enough is a enough  …. that’s it…I finally looked in the mirror…whatever got them there…well good for you….but I bet a good portion of them would say they had someone in there corner.  I read on facebook a friend of mine she  had just loss 100 lbs and when you looked at the comments you soon realized she had a lot of support from friends and maybe that’s how you beat a bad habit….recognize you have a bad habit and form a team…strength in numbers …. I’m one of the luckiest guys in the world from a fist punch from Kenny to high five from Sherry to the constant love and support from family and  friends these extra biscuits are in for a ass kickin …so rock on and remember Crossfitters lend a hand to those that need it and remember that success is a team sport….again rock on…
